Steve Sundram

About Steve Sundram
Co-creator & guide of Practica ‘S’.
Steve first began dancing Tango in 2004 as a student of Shastro. Early on he was also greatly influenced by the teachings of Liz Haight & Masami of Sante Fe, who emphasize the importance of connection over steps. Steve has been fortunate to spend several months at a time dancing in Buenos Aires, where he studied with Alicia Pons and Osvaldo & Coca. A significant learning period and highlight of his tango journey was to dance every evening of the week in the renowned high pressure milongas of Buenos Aires, namely Maipu & El Beso, the legendary tango salons of the older Milongueros. Steve also travels regularly to mainland festivals. After returning from a month of studying tango in Portland, inspired by the effectiveness of what a guided practica could contribute within a community, Steve with his partner Mayra, launched Practica ‘S’ here on Maui in November 2011.
His other passions include teaching African Drumming and a career as a successful visual artist for over 30 years.
